The race favourite, WHAT YOU WISH FOR will be very hard to beat but is no value at his short quote. I have been quite impressed with the trials from SALTCOATS to date and while the 1300m from the outside on debut is less than ideal, I think it is more of an open race than the market suggests and SALTCOATS look like a nice horse in the making.

Race 4 #3 NEST EGG
A consistent galloper who is always rattling home late. He got back in the field last start on a day when making ground was near impossible. He shouldn’t be spotting these too much of a start in the small field and his win at Taupo two back was arrogant. If he brings his best, he wins in this field.

Summary

Race favourite #6 NOT GUILTY should have no trouble assuming her preferred front running role here from barrier 5 and with just 53kgs, the way she has been racing, she will be awfully hard to get passed. The speed only appears to be moderate for this and I think we will see #3 OLD TOWN ROAD cross from a wide gate to settle outside the leader. He never seems to go a bad race and I think he will be very competitive in this grade with 56kg.

Summary

There doesn’t look like much speed in this outside of #1 COLORADO STAR. He is in career best form, but the question mark will be how he handles the rise 2200m with 59kg at his first go over the trip. He should get away with an easy lead, but he is giving horses like #6 FIERCE FLIGHT a huge weight swing. A deserved favourite, #6 FIERCE FLIGHT brings solid form to this with two seconds at his last two outings. A genuine stayer who drops back to 53kg and has the addition of a shadow roll for the first time, if he settles around mid-field, I think he will reel in the top-weight in the straight. One runner who I am not going to let go around without a small place bet on is #10 THE MIGHTY SPAR, he has been piecing together some nice runs lately and will appreciate the lightweight here.
