Divine Prophet to stand at Highview Stud
Highview Stud has welcomed a further addition to their stallion ranks, with Divine Prophet set to stand at the Waikato farm this coming breeding season.
The Group One-winning son of Choisir is a full-brother to in vogue sire Proisir and Highview Stud principal Brent Gillovic believes he will prove popular with New Zealand breeders.
Divine Prophet won three of his 10 starts for trainers Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes, including the Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) and Gr.3 Up & Coming Stakes (1300m), and placed in the Gr.1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) and Gr.2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m).
He retired to stud at Aquis Farm where he has sired Gr.2 Sandown Guineas (1600m) winner See You In Heaven and Gr.2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) winner Promitto.
“We simply could not be happier for the opportunity to stand a stallion of Divine Prophet’s calibre,” Gillovic said.
“New Zealand is somewhat regarded for producing horses that mature into a mile and beyond, while Divine Prophet has already clearly shown he is capable of siring quality two-year-olds that train on.
“We inspected Divine Prophet at Aquis and were hugely impressed by what a magnificent athlete he is, with a beautiful temperament, and is clearly throwing them to type with his progeny selling up to $375,000 at Australian sales.”
Gillovic is anticipating a warm welcome for Divine Prophet from New Zealand breeders given the success of his full-brother Proisir, who is set to usurp Savabeel as New Zealand’s leading sire.
“Proisir’s best runners have originated from a diverse range of broodmare sires here in New Zealand and, quite obviously, with Divine Prophet being a full-brother, a terrific racehorse and already a proven sire, we’re anticipating that New Zealand breeders will jump at the chance to tap into this successful line,” he said.
“Divine Prophet is already a proven sire with over 60 winners, two of them at Group Two level, and he will stand at a fee accessible to the vast majority of broodmare owners.
“I think it is an absolute coup for the New Zealand breeding industry and we are indebted to Aquis for the opportunity.”
A fee for Divine Prophet will be released by Highview Sud at a later date.
