Standout Sectionals - 31st January
Sectional Star of the Week
Race 7 Riccarton Park, 28 January
Blue Solitaire
She '… did very well' was the comment by the commentator and the sectionals back it up. Her sectionals were the best in all categories and she was held up in the straight. The wide draw didn't help either. Looks a next up winner in the right race.
Sectional Standouts
Race 5 Matamata, 25 January
Mazzucato
On debut she settled in behind the pace and came through and hit the lead 200m out. She was run down by a race fit Lowe Flying but still ran the quickest last 400m. She looks like a natural improver and will be much harder to hold out next start.
Race 2 Hastings, 26 January
Vespacian
She may have had eight runs for no wins, but the way she stuck on for sixth after racing three wide in the open on a solid pace, means she just needs a decent run to be much harder to beat.
Race 2 Trentham, 28 January
Celtic Echo
This was her debut run against race winners and she put in a strong finish from back in the field. Her closing sectionals were the best in the race so based on that, she should have a bright future.
Race 8 Trentham, 28 January
Prioress
After being tailed off she made good ground along the slower inner ground for sixth. She ran the fastest last 200 metres and looks like she needs 1400m again to nail another win.
