The barrier’s have been drawn for the two Karaka Million feature races to be run at Pukekohe on Saturday afternoon and the Te Akau Racing team has a major hand to play in both.

They will make up half of the final field in the Doubletree By Hilton Karaka Million 2YO, with seven runners to line up in a race they’ve made their own, winning the past six runnings.

Of the seven runners, they experienced mixed results from the barrier draw with chances drawing in and out, including one of the more favoured runners Tokyo Tycoon in barrier 14.

“Probably can’t repeat it on the radio Louis,” was trainer Mark Walker’s reaction to Tokyo Tycoon’s draw.

“I think Trobriand in particular is drawn perfectly.”

Shortly after the draw’s were streamed on SENZ, Te Akau Racing announced via their social platforms that champion New Zealand jockey Opie Bosson would ride Trobriand.

In the Karaka Million 3YO Classic, both Wild Night (2) and Dynastic (3) drew favourably as Wild Night is aiming to make it a sixth win straight.

Wild Night’s major competition, Legarto who is also on a five-race winning streak, drew inside in barrier 1 which adds further intrigue to the race.
