The Grand Tour Leaderboard Update

NZTR
24 January 2023

With New Zealand Bloodstock’s Karaka Million night behind us, The Grand Tour #14 saw the fierce battle at the top of the Jockey's leaderboard continue as both Warren Kennedy (1 win) & Opie Bosson (2 wins)  moved to 1st equal and 2nd equal.

With only 6 races on the card, it was limited opportunities for wins and the apprentices leaderboard has remained unchanged.

Mark Walker’s stranglehold on the top spot of the Trainers leaderboard has continued with the Te Akau head trainer securing 3 winners (Imperatriz, Maven Belle & Tokyo Tycoon) to extend his lead over 2nd equal, Lance Noble & Lisa Latta to 13 wins now as he sits on 19 wins. The other mover on the Trainers leaderboard was Stephen Marsh who now sits 4th on 5 wins thanks to Zee Falls win in the Karaka Stayers Cup.

A big shift on the Trainers Strike Rate leaderboard as Ken & Bev Kelso have now reached the 10 runner threshold to be eligible for The Grand Tour leaderboard and with that, have jumped straight to the top spot with a strike rate of just  3.34. This sees the competition for the lead start to get tight as Allan Sharrock sits 2nd with a strike rate of 3.75 ahead of this weekend's NZCIS Wellington Cup Day (The Grand Tour #15).

A number of movers can be seen on the Horses leaderboard. Imperatriz scored her second Grand Tour win, accompanied by a Group 1 winning bonus point, she has moved in to the 1st equal spot on 3 points. With three other horses (Green Aeon, Prowess & Tokyo Tycoon) all claiming their second Grand Tour wins and are now sitting on 2 points, the battle for horses in 4th equal gets even larger ahead of another weekend of The Grand Tour racing this Saturday at Trentham.
