Australian raider Long Leaf was victorious in the 2019 Karaka Million 3yo Classic for part-owner and New Zealand Bloodstock founder Sir Peter Vela. Trained by David Hayes, Long Leaf was purchased out of Curraghmore's 2017 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sales draft by BBA Ireland. Ridden by ex-pat Kiwi hoop James McDonald, the win was all the more sweeter as a close friend of Sir Peter Vela who absolutely loved it on the line!
