Savabeel's victory in the Gr.1 Cox Plate not only set up the Graeme Rogerson trained colt for a successful racing career, but as a remarkable stallion too. As co-breeder, part-owner and trainer of the Zabeel colt, his success in 2004 he would beat the likes of Fields Of Omagh and Starcraft ridden by Chris Munce. Now an eight-time champion sire at Waikato Stud, Savabeel has sired 26 individual Gr.1 winners.
