Trainer Tuesday - Samantha Logan
In this edition of 'Trainer Tuesday' we highlight Cambridge-based emerging trainer Samantha Logan who is the daughter of one of the country's most successful trainers Donna Logan and late husband Dean Logan.
Logan Racing has had over 50 years of training experience in both New Zealand and Australia, with over 750-lifetime winners. It’s not surprising to understand how Sam fell in love with training and the industry itself with a family history that deeply engrained in racing.
Sam's first racing memory was of her parent's trained horse El Duce winning the Wellington Guineas in 1998. Two decades later Sam is now carving her own training legacy notching up 42 wins across her career.
A few career highlights include Lambrusco winning three in a row during the 2019 season as it was the first horse Sam selected as a yearling, broke in, and trained to win six races.
Another highlight was Lacustre taking out the 2019 Pakuranga Hunt Cup, a horse Sam held dearly to her heart. He retired at the beginning of the year with an outstanding record of 46 race day starts for 5 wins, 9 seconds and 4 thirds.
We can't wait to see what is in store for this talented horsewoman!
