In his three-year-old season, the Tony Pike trained Rangipo was a force to be reckoned with. Winning both the Gr.2 Waikato Guineas, Avondale Cup and on to the Gr.1 NZ Derby all in consecutive starts. As we head into the Gr.1 NZ Derby weekend at Ellerslie, we caught up with the now retired Rangipo with his former trackwork rider and multiple Gr.1 winning jockey Mark Hills, and as you can see he has the retirement life he deserves.
