The Party-seekers

‘Tis the season to kick up your heels and you’re all about it! You’ve come to the right place.

Planning to be in the Central Districts this Christmas? Awapuni Boxing Day at the Races is a treat! With a DJ cranking the tunes in the party zone throughout the day, it’s the place to be.

New Plymouth Raceway’s Hooves and Grooves, 27 December – the name says it all! The alfresco-style Garden Bar can be considered the hot spot on-course, with street style food, bar and betting facilities and live music following the last.

Still working on those New Year’s plans? Hawke’s Bay Racing’s New Year’s Eve races could be the go! With live music plus a DJ set, Brews & ‘Ques is the ticket you want.

The Punters

Summer racing brings the big guns out to play and you’re here for it! With six black type races on the card, including the Group 1 Sistema Railway, Ellerslie’s SkyCity New Year’s Day is hard to go past.

Ellerslie’s SkyCity Boxing Day race card will also get plenty of ears pricked, with four black type races including the Group 1 Zabeel Classic.

Teddy Bears’ Picnic at the Races… need we say anymore?! Otago Racing Club are putting it on for the little ones this Boxing Day with a raft of free entertainment including lawn games, kids fashion in the field and a teddy bear hunt!

Enjoy country racing at its best with races at Rotorua, Timaru, Taupo, Kurow, Riverton and Tauherenikau between Boxing Day and 2 January.

Racing’s Tauranga New World Summer Festival, 2 January has been a longstanding favourite with families. What’s more, star jockeys Michael McNab and Kozzi Asano will be taking part in a kids meet and greet between races!
