After getting behind midfield, he was able to get into the clear 100 metres out and hit the line hard in the best closing sectionals of the race. He won two races on this track this time last year and is one to watch out for on the third day.

Dalmatia Race 4 Hastings October 2

He may have only finished eighth, but his closing sectionals were the best in all categories. With 200m to go, he was still last, but found the line hard late. He's a nice big striding galloper suited to more ground.

Prise De Fer Race 8 Hastings October 2

The way he closed off for second, in the best last 600, 400 and 200 metres, with a gap to the rest, shows that he just needs to be in the right race to go one better.

Noverre Race 6 Riccarton Park October 2

This very nice Te Akau galloper did just want you would want to see from a 2000 Guineas point of view. From well back, he charged home in the best closing sectionals, looking like 1600m will be right up his alley. $16 for that big race looks tempting.
