Summary: “Winner BEAUDEN led a moderate tempo early then given some rein prior to the turn and held a steady run to the line, 2nd horse THE CHOSEN ONE returning off an Australian preparation dropped his head into a nice rhythm early and wasn’t asked to quicken with the leader, stablemate FRONTMAN also returning from Australia given a quiet time in 3rd, race-fit THALASSA under pressure did not respond at the rear.”

2nd – 6y m NAVAL FLEET trained by Steven Ramsey & Julia Ritchie
3rd – 4y m CORNFLOWER BLUE trained by Jamie Richards
Summary: “KAHMA LASS enjoyed a cosy run outside lead and pushed along in straight to score narrowly from NAVAL FLEET the mare asked to pick up late and poked through on the line. AEGON & PROBABEEL finished at the rear both out wide and worked home ok, the former given an easier time and the latter looking for a drier surface.”

Heat 3 – OPEN –Catchweight – 900m (56.46)
1st – 5y m ENTRIVIERE trained by Jamie Richards
2nd – 4y m AMARELINHA trained by Jamie Richards
3rd – 5y m SIRACUSA trained by Steven Ritchie & Julia Ramsay
Summary: “Outstanding piece of work from the sprinting mare ENTRIVIERE! She worked home stylishly on the Cambridge Poly surface two weeks ago and spring-boarded off it here leading off an inside draw and bolting in her trial, time was slick. She’s Oz-bound with ‘The Invitation’ at Randwick, a suggested target. 2nd horse AMARELINHA having 2nd trial was niggled at throughout and kept coming at the line in a good effort and a very smart trial from JUSTACANTA in 4th, importantly jumped with the field which can be an issue on race-day.”
Horse To Follow: 5y m ENTRIVIERE & 8y g JUSTACANTA
Heat 4 – OPEN – Catchweight – 900m (57.63)
1st – 4y g ZOULANDER trained by Team Rogerson

3rd – 6y m AVANTAGE trained by Jamie Richards
Summary: “Te Akau mares in the field produced a carbon copy of their 1st trial at Cambridge recently, SHEZATHINKA appears to be in good order, i liked her 1st trial and she jumped quickly in this sitting wide early before coming across at the turn and showed good endeavour on the line, champion mare AVANTAGE was prominent throughout and was doing best work late in a close-up 3rd.”

Heat 5 – 3YO – Catchweight – 900m (57.39)
1st – 3y f IMPERATRIZ trained by Jamie Richards
2nd – 3y c PALAMOS trained by Jamie Richards
3rd – 3y g QUATTRO QUINTA trained by Jamie Richards
Summary: “QUATTRO QUINTA was a standout performer at Cambridge recently, on face value disappointing here after leading up the field then under pressure straightening and whacked away in 3rd, beaten 5L, worth noting this was his first time on heavy going in a trial or in a race, convinced he’s still on target for the rich 3YO mile races. Winner and stablemate IMPERATRIZ is unbeaten and after an excellent 1st trial at Cambridge she was in a class of her own today skipping through the wet ground to race away, time was around benchmark for morning.”
Horses To Follow: 3y f IMPERATRIZ & 3y g QUATTRO QUINTA

Summary: “Winner SHAMEXPRESS colt was green and too good for his more professional stablemate in the straight coming away for a strong win in quick time, in 3rd COMPLACENT colt did plenty wrong, slow out, head to one side and liked the way he knuckled down in the straight to finish off, a good start to his career.”

Summary: “Slow early before the speed come on entering straight and a most impressive effort from the winner ASTERN gelding having his 1st career trial, he was given the persuader to pick up and did so and loved the way he extended near the line, beautiful action, he’s out of a staying-bred mare and is one to watch. 2nd horse SHAMBLES worked home well under a quiet ride and DIVINE DUDE was ok in 3rd not asked to go.”

Summary: “Superb performance from winner MANA NUI, a physically imposing colt, appeared to relish the heavy going and perhaps the switch right-handed to run fast time and was too good for his rivals here. His only career start he finished down the field in top company so expect sharp improvement upon his return to the races.”

Summary: “Winner the unraced SHOCKING gelding is repaying his trainer’s patience, 1st career trial for the 4YO who produced a very forward showing over 700m, jumping fast he travelled on the bridle and quickened up in good style with plenty in hand on the line, keen to see him again!”

3rd – 4y g WARHORSE x JAMMU trained by M F & M L Rogers
Summary: “Fast-run heat. Winner GOLDEN HUE was ridden out with an eye-catcher in 2nd from arguably the best maiden in the country MOANA, she’s been fitted with blinkers and was working home strongly after being restrained at the start, performances to date suggest she’s better than maiden company and look for her to strike fresh with the gear change.”
