The Board of New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR), through chairman Cameron George, acknowledged the TAB NZ appointments announced by Racing Minister Grant Robertson earlier this week.

“We congratulate Liz Dawson and Dean McKenzie on their appointments, and we look forward to working in a proactive and positive way with them,” George said.

Liz Dawson, who is an existing member of the interim TAB NZ Board and Chair of the TAB NZ Board Selection Panel, was appointed as the Chair of the interim TAB NZ Board.  She replaces Dean McKenzie, who will lead the transition of TAB NZ as it works through the reforms of the Racing Industry Act 2020 in his new position of Chief Transition Officer.

“As the Minister stated in his release, it is important to have stability while we undertake the process to appoint the permanent Board for the TAB and NZTR has confidence in these appointments,” George said.
