What’s happening this NZCIS Wellington Cup Day?

To put it simply, A LOT! As Wellington Racing Club puts it themselves, this is Wellington’s greatest party and your must-do summer event. A day not just for racing enthusiasts, Wellington Cup Day hits the winning trifecta of racing, fashion, and entertainment.

Racing

If it’s top class racing you’re after, Trentham Racecourse this Saturday is where you need to be! With three black type races on the card, including the Group 1 Harcourts Thorndon Mile and $250,000 NZ Campus of Innovation & Sport Wellington Cup, it doesn’t get much better. Expect to see New Zealand Racing’s biggest players (two-legged and four!) on-course.

Fashion

To put things into racing terms, Wellington Cup Day’s fashion in the field competition is a Group 1 event, attracting the most seasoned fillies  around. With the winner receiving automatic entry into Ellerslie’s The Ned Prix de Fashion finals (along with a luxury weekend away with Mercedes, two nights’ accommodation at the Rydges, a year’s supply of fresh flowers and much more!), the supreme sash is always hotly contested for. In saying this, maiden fashion entrant, fear not! There is a category for those who are yet to win a fashion in the field event.

Entertainment

The ever-popular Brewtown Craft Beer Village is back again this year, with the addition of Superbad Soul Section playing from 3pm. Snap an Insty in the LOVERACING.NZ birdcage or soak in the atmosphere from the public lawn. The grand finale to Wellington Racing Club’s Cup Carnival– don’t be the one that missed out.
