What’s on this Melbourne Cup Day?

Our favourite Tuesday of the year is fast approaching and while things will be a little quieter across the ditch, there is PLENTY on here in New Zealand. Lock in that leave, rally the crew and get set to celebrate this Melbourne Cup Day!

Jarden Melbourne Cup Day at Ellerslie Racecourse
11am – 9pm

We’ll start with the obvious – celebrating at a racetrack. As Ellerslie puts it themselves, this ‘part party; part raceday’ provides the perfect setting to dress up, enjoy their signature hospitality and experience the thrill that is being rail side as our country’s finest thoroughbreds gallop right past you. As the sun sets, the attention will move from the racetrack to the dance floor, as racegoers are invited into the Cuvee lounge for the official onsite afterparty.

With a number of the hospitality precincts already sold out, don’t leave your run too late:

Dunedin Casino Melbourne Cup Day at Wingatui Racecourse
Gates open at 11am

The race that stops a nation, stops Dunedin! An annual event not to be missed, Dunedin Casino Melbourne Cup Day offers everything a great raceday should – fabulous fare, fashion and fillies! Enjoy a marquee on the lawn with your workmates (beats the office!), a three-course meal and live music in the Winning Post Lounge or kick back in GA with a few mates.

Sounds like a bit of you?

Melbourne Cup at SkyCity
4pm – 7pm

Be amongst the first to enjoy SkyCity’s latest bar – Flare, while getting a front row seat to all the action out of Flemington on big screens. Whilst away from the racetrack, fascinators absolutely have their place, with celebrity judges being on the look out for those dressed in the best raceday fashion.

With TAB onsite and stunning hospitality on offer, enjoy Melbourne Cup in style with SkyCity!

Boys Get Paid at Headquarters
Midday – 9pm

Kicking off with drinks on the house from 12pm – 1pm (we bet that got your ears pricked!) and followed by a banquet style two-course lunch, enjoy an afternoon of banter and bets in one of the Viaduct’s ultimate hotspots.

There will be a punter’s club (surprise, surprise!) – one with a rather impressive kitty! The pot has officially ticked past the $40,000 mark and they’re gunning for $100,000 come the big day. Can’t make it to the event? No dramas. Join the punter’s club via the Boys Get Paid app and get amongst the excitement that is cheering home a horse in the Melbourne Cup.

Lock it in:

Melbourne Cup Long Lunch at Portlander
12.30pm – 4.00pm

Wellingtonians, here’s one for you! Join Wellington Racing Club at the Portlander at Rydges Wellington, for bubbles and a bespoke three-course meal while enjoying the entertainment of Des Coppins as your MC for the afternoon.
