With Christmas at the Races now in full swing, it’s time to get planning! We’ve pulled together a few tips to help you have a cracker Christmas party.

Christmas communication

The buzz for any great party starts early. Amp up the big day by including your plans in the work newsletter, create a Facebook group, discuss it in the next team meeting, put a poster up in the lunchroom. Great communication is the foundation for everyone having a great time - and your best Christmas party yet!

Sort your sleigh

Sort your transport early - Santa plans his sleigh journey well in advance to make sure everything runs smoothly. While you might not have access to Rudolph or the other reindeer, there’s still plenty of time to sort a sober driver, bus, taxi or uber transport to make sure your elves get from A to B safely.

Dasher’s dietary requirements

Does anyone in your team have any food requirements or allergies? If you’ve booked a private room or are bringing your own cuisine, be sure to communicate this to the appropriate people in advance.

Racing’s little helper

Wouldn’t know where to start when it comes to placing a bet? No worries, we’ve got you and your colleagues covered! Check out our beginners guide to betting. Punting is simple when you know the basics, and the thrill of cheering on your pick at the finish line adds something extra to your Christmas party.

Secret Santa

Who doesn’t love gifts?! Set a small budget, throw everyone name’s in a hat and ask them to list two of their likes or interests to take some of the guesswork out of the gifting.

Rudolph looks great with a red nose, but you might not on Monday…

Take it easy and enjoy the entertainment, chat with friends and the racing action on offer. Encourage your colleagues to drink responsibly - the best kind of Christmas party is one you can remember!

Mrs Claus loves mementos

Be sure to take plenty of pictures at the event. Round up the team and snap a selfie trackside with Santa hats or the big guy himself (word on the street is he’s planning on attending Christmas at the Races events around the country…) - it’s the perfect memento for the lunchroom fridge.
