Meet the Sponsor: Livamol Classic

We’re counting down the days to the third and final raceday of Hawkes Bay Racing’s BOSTOCK New Zealand Spring Racing Carnival – The Livamol Classic! We caught up with Kerrin Beatson, New Zealand Sales Executive for Livamol, to chat about the sponsorship, favourite editions of the race and what he’s most looking forward to come October 17.

How did this sponsorship come about?

Chris and Lynne Lawlor (owners/CEO of International Animal Health Products) and myself where in a meeting in Sydney back in 2014 where it was suggested we consider looking to sponsor a Group 1 race somewhere in New Zealand. From there I made contact with a past acquaintance Luke Walding, well known in the advertising and racing sector, to see what was potentially on offer; From there the Livamol Classic was locked away.

Do you have a favourite edition of the race?

There are two that stand out to me during our time as a sponsor. For me you can’t go past last year’s historic triple crown with the outstanding Jamie Richards trained and Fortuna Racing Syndicate owned Melody Belle, taking the Hawkes Bay Triple Crown for the first time in the carnivals history.  The 2nd outstanding race for me was the Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott trained and Hermitage Thoroughbred's owned Willie Cazals, in 2016.

Livamol Classic Day is a highlight on the social calendar for many! In your eyes, what makes it such a great day?
It’s really simple, this club has always had, and continues to have, outstanding support and membership who are 100% committed to ensuring the best race experience for any and all who attend or watch from home.  I cannot thank each and every one of them enough. They understand and work alongside all sponsors and make it a pleasure to be a part of.  I also believe the Hastings track would have to be one of the best in the country and the team they have working onsite are incredibly passionate and excel at all they do.

What are you most looking forward to come Livamol Classic Day this Saturday?
Well considering it’s been touch and go this year across all facets of business and sport, I’m just relieved we get to spend the day racing with incredible horses and for an excited crowd to be back on course.

And lastly, who do you think will take out the big one?!
To be honest everyone in this industry knows it can be anyone’s race on the day. I wish them all the very best and encourage everyone to enjoy the day, whether on course or watching from home!
