The moderate tempo of his race last Saturday was indicated by it being run home in the fastest last 600 metres of the day off the front which made it impossible for him to win. So to run the fastest sectionals in all categories of the race, 45.46, 32.91, 21.21 and 10.87 ( equal fastest L200 10.87 with Beauden all day ) tells us he just needs the right race to be very hard to beat. That race could well be the Coupland’s Bakeries Mile where he will get in on a lightweight.

After jumping ok in the Breeders Gold Trail Stakes on Saturday, she gradually ended up near last on the inner and they didn’t go hard upfront. But she certainly had the flashing light on her with the way she rattled home along the fence and the closing sectionals, 45.41,33.44, 21.61 and 11.05,  being the fastest in all four categories of the race, just reinforced how good that run was. The 1600m of the 1000 Guineas will be ideal for her, which you could not say about most nominated for it.
