We caught up with jumps jockey Stuart Higgins, here's what we covered in 60 seconds...

What made you want to pursue a career in racing?

I grew up hunting and eventing, racing seemed more accessible to make a career from.

What do you love most about racing?

I get huge satisfaction out of everytime a horse goes well, it can really pay off when things go right.

What has been a career highlight for you?

Blues Breaker winning a maiden hurdle at Riccarton. The first winner that Amanda (my partner) and I owned, trained and rode to win. He won impressively too.

Do you have a favourite horse you’ve ridden?

Jack Frost and Banbury Lad, I couldn't choose between them.

Do you have a favourite jockey?

A P McCoy.

Favourite New Zealand track?
 
Riverton, when it's not raining.
 
Hurdles or steeplechase?
 
Steeplechase.

If you weren’t in racing, what would your job be?

Pushing up daisies.

When you're not riding, what do you spend your time doing?

Plenty of breakers at home to pass the time with.
 
If you could switch lives with someone for the day, who would it be?
