What made you want to pursue a career in racing?
 
The love of the horses and the thrill of winning races - I’m very passionate.
 
What has been a career highlight for you?
 
Dreaming Easy winning the Open Handicap Oamaru Cup and receiving the leading Otago trainer strike rate of the year 2019.
 
Do you have a memorable horse you’ve trained?
 
Black Label.
 
A horse you felt never met their full potential?
 
Popp’n Lindauer. 
 
A horse that went above and beyond expected?
 
Dreaming Easy.
 
What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?
 
Be kind to your horses and staff.
 
Favourite racecourse?
 
Wairoa Racecourse.
 
If you weren’t in racing, what else would you be doing?
 
Go back to owning and operating a fish shop.
 
If you could invite three people to dinner, who would they be?
 
Richie McCaw, Steve Hansen & Chris Waller.
 
If you could switch lives with someone for the day, who would it be?

What is one thing people are surprised to know about you?
 
How many winners I’ve had for such a small team, and my ability to sense and judge people from the good & not so good.
