60 Seconds with Holly Andrew

The Races - Caitlin O'Sullivan
19 November 2019
From unfinished business to motocross riding, check out what we covered in 60 seconds with Central District Jockey Holly Andrew.

What made you want to pursue a career in racing?
Racing was a way I was able to ride and earn a living at the same time - The best of both worlds.

What do you love most about racing?
Winning races of course! I also love seeing happy owners when returning to scale following a race.

Do you have a favourite horse?
Spendaholic. Having teamed up with her early on in my career and having success is something I’ll always remember. Being owned and trained by a small group of women who I formed great friendships with made it all the more special.

Who in the industry do you look up to?
Mr Gray has been the driving force behind my career. I look up to him not only for that but for his work ethic and his horsemanship skills as well. He is also a true gentleman.

What race would you love to win?
I have some unfinished business with the Cuddle Stakes at Trentham, having fallen in the race (from Bronsteel in 2018). So I would like to win that.

If you weren’t in racing what would you be doing?
Trying to pursue a career as a professional female motocross rider. Having that fail, fire fighting.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I broke my back when I was 16 (in a riding accident).

If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be?
The person who won $38million in lotto the other week!

If you could invite 3 people to dinner who would you invite?
Pablo Escobar, Donald Trump and Elvis Presley.
