Group One performer In A Twinkling took his winning tally to two when victorious in the NZB Ready To Run Sale Nov 21-22 (2100m) at Te Rapa on Monday.

“He was very well within himself and it’s always a thrill to see a slightly out of form horse come back into form with a win,” Te Akau principal David Ellis said.

“He was third-up from a spell, Jamie (Richards, trainer) has done a terrific job with him, and for a horse that had only won once previously it was quite incredible where he was at the top of the handicaps.”

Jockey Opie Bosson, who was fresh from finishing third on Te Akau Shark in the Gr.1 Cox Plate (2400m) on Saturday, pushed forward with the four-year-old to settle outside the leader.

He secured the lead with 300m to go and did not relinquish it, winning by three-quarters of a length over Pep Torque, with 1-1/4 lengths back to Obsessive in third.

“He jumped and put himself there and relaxed beautifully,” Bosson said.

“He was too good in the end and carried a big weight. Sometimes he can do a few things wrong but he did everything one-hundred percent today. And the track was perfect.”

Owned by the Te Akau Fastnet Moment Syndicate, In A Twinkling was purchased by David Ellis for $250,000, from the draft of Curraghmore, at the 2017 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale.
