60 Seconds with Craig Grylls

The Races
16 September 2019
Craig Grylls is flying… in more ways than one! Check out what we learnt about the champion jock in 60 seconds.

What made you want to pursue a career in racing?
Most probably growing up in the racing industry was the biggest reason for me. And also that adrenaline rush that comes with race riding.

You have enjoyed much success during your career so far, which is most special to you?
I’d have to say the Livamol Classic win on Willie Cazals. A lot of work went into him to get him there and for it to pay off was pretty cool.

Of all the horses you've ridden, do you have a favourite?
Pasta post. He gave me my first group 1 winner in the Easter Handicap. I was an apprentice at the time and it was very special to get the win for my boss.

If you weren’t in racing, what would you be?
A commercial pilot (Craig currently holds a private pilot's licence).

Within the racing industry, who do you look up to?
Lance O’Sullivan. He has been a huge help to me over the years and taught me a lot. I am very grateful.

If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be?
Donald Trump.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Being able to fly.

If you could invite 3 people to dinner, living or dead, who would you invite?
Captain Cook, Freddie Mercury & Tiger Woods.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I’m an incredible singer! I also have a private pilots licence and enjoy flying.
