Safety Development Announcement
Safety improvement projects at seven thoroughbred racing clubs were among those which benefited from an announcement made by Minister for Racing Winston Peters yesterday.
A total of 17 projects across the industry will see $389,351 invested by the government through the Racing Safety Development fund, which provides $1 million annually to racecourse safety across two funding rounds.
This year’s second funding round has supported a range of infrastructure projects including track maintenance equipment for the Southland Racing Club and Otago Racing Club; replacement running rails for the Taupo Racing Club; and the replacement of a stand roof at the Matamata Racing Club.
The fund plays an important role in supporting the safety of the racing industry for animals, staff and the wider public.
