Guide to RIB Stable Audits

The RIB, in collaboration with NZTR, has commenced stable audits to ensure licenced Trainers comply with NZTR's Welfare Assessment GuidelinesThese guidelines are based on five domains of animal welfare and aim to establish clear standards for licenced Trainers.

The audit process will measure compliance with these standards, benefiting both industry insiders and the broader community. These standards are generally achievable, with most licenced Trainers already meeting them through their existing practices.

To help Trainers prepare for the process, NZTR has created a Stable Audit Hub on its website. The information contained on the webpage provides details on the following:

  • Selection process
  • Stable Audit procedure
  • Common errors of Trainers
  • Access to stable audit resources
  • Emergency management plan
  • Treatment logbook
  • Key stable audit contacts
