NZTR and Racing Te Aroha’s Return to Racing Plan

New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing is pleased to share a positive development regarding the resumption of racing activities at the Te Aroha track.

This week, Regional Track Advisor, Bart Cowan, conducted a comprehensive assessment of the Te Aroha venue. After engaging in detailed discussions with the Club, NZTR, Bart and Racing Te Aroha are pleased to report that they are satisfied with the current condition of the track and are now moving forward to the next phase in the process of resuming racing at Te Aroha.

The next phase of NZTR and Racing Te Aroha’s return to racing plan is as follows:

Tuesday 3 October – Track Gallops

  • Limited to approx. 20 horses (no 2YOs)
  • Around markers, testing the whole track
  • Commences 7.30 am

Thursday 5 October – Jumpouts

  • Limited to approx. 40 horses (no 2YOs)
  • Senior ‘Class A’ riders aboard horses
  • Feedback from jockeys is to be provided to all present
  • Commences 10.30 am

Members of the Club and their Track Manager will be in attendance at these jumpouts, as well as representatives from NZTR, the RIB, and the NZTA.

If all goes as planned at jumpouts on 5 October, NZTR and Racing Te Aroha will plan to host trials at the venue on Thursday 12 October. More information about trials and nominations will be released in due course.

NZTR would like to thank all parties who have been involved with the resumption to racing plan at Te Aroha to date. The company acknowledges that the journey has not been as straightforward as it may have liked but it is determined to get back to racing at the track as soon as it is safely possible to do so.

NZTR appreciates the ongoing support of its participants regarding the Te Aroha track.
