The primary reason for the trials at Te Aroha on Thursday 4 May is to ensure the course is on target for a return to racing.

Total numbers will be restricted to between 80 and 100 horses. These trials are not for 2YOs.

To this end, and to ensure all relevant parts of the track are used, trials will be for the following horses over the following distances.:

Open 2200 (incl jmprs)

Open and Mdn 1600m

Open and Mdn 1400m

Open and Mdn 1200m

Given the purpose of these trials, horses will be eliminated to ensure all starting points are still adequately utilised. The intention is for maiden horses to be eliminated first if required.

Nominations will close with the Bureau at midday on Wednesday 3 May.
