Covid Protocols - Update

Following yesterday's announcement from the Prime Minister NZTR's Covid Framework protocols have been updated and can be found in full here.

The key points are as follows:

From race meetings from Saturday onwards (under the “RED Traffic Light”):

  • QR Code scanning not required
  • Mask wearing in outdoor areas is encouraged but not mandated.  Masks must still be worn by jockeys and others while in indoor areas in the immediate vicinity of the weigh-room.
  • The weigh room remains restricted to jockeys and necessary officials, all of whom are required to return a negative RAT test before the meeting.  The requirement to have an area for handover of saddlecloths and riding gear remains in place.
  • Owners still cannot enter horse areas including the parade ring, birdcage and the ‘return to scale’ area.
  • Trainers and patrons are able to socialise outdoor or in lounges, however Jockeys may not enter such public areas.
  • Capacity limits for defined hospitality areas increased from 100 to 200 and no capacity limit for outdoor areas.

Then also, for race meetings after 4 April:

  • Presentation of “My Vaccine Pass” no longer required of patrons or licenceholders.

From 11.59pm on Sunday 27 March, the vaccine mandate for training centres will no longer remain in force.

If subject to the government’s isolation requirement or if experiencing cold or flu symptoms, Licenceholders (or any other person) must not attend a race or trial meeting.
