Central Otago Races at Omakau 3 January
Omakau Track Update
The Omakau track has been inspected at 5.40pm Tuesday 2 January. Stipendiary Stewards have said that after a day of warm, drying weather, the part of the track that was initially concerning has improved considerably. The surface water between the 350m and 250m has desiccated.
Two horses will be galloped just prior to 7.00am in the morning as a measure to confirm that the track is suitable to hold the race meeting. With a positive weather forecast it is envisaged that there will be no problems with the racing surface and the meeting will proceed as programmed.
The Omakau track has a particularly wet area around the final turn into the home straight.
An inspection of the track will be undertaken tonight after the harness meeting to monitor the drying progress.
A final assessment and decision will be made at approximately 7.30am tomorrow morning (3 January) after the RIU and Club Officials have inspected the area in question.
