Victoria Carter appointed to the NZTR Board

The Members’ Council is responsible for all aspects of appointing the six independent Directors to the NZTR Board.
Victoria Carter has a background in public relations and is well-versed in digital marketing. Victoria has been a Director of the Auckland Racing Club for the past eight years and until recently was Chairman of the Members’ Council.
An accredited Director of the Institute of Directors, she is a Director of Tax Management NZ, and Cityhop, NZ’s first car share company. She is also Chairman of the Auckland Arts Festival.
A former high profile Auckland City Councillor, Mrs Carter was a Director of formerly NZX-listed company Kidicorp, NZ’s largest childcare provider and, until late last year, tourism company JUCY Group.
She and her husband breed and race horses, most recently Rising Romance, who is set to run in the Group One Vinery Stud Stakes at Rosehill, Sydney, this Saturday.
On her appointment Mrs Carter stated: “I am delighted to be appointed to this significant role in the racing industry.”
“With my husband, I have been following and investing in racing for many years as an owner and breeder.”
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being a Director of the Auckland Racing Club as we’ve gone through some big changes, such as the introduction of the three-day Auckland Cup week in March.”
“I look forward to working with the NZTR Board to continue the progress they have made in ensuring a sustainable model and attracting more people to thoroughbred racing.”

1. In her former position as Chairman of the NZTR Members’ Council, Victoria Carter stepped down from the Council throughout the NZTR Director appointment process.
2. The other five independent NZTR Directors are: Matthew Goodson (Chairman), Joe Walls (Deputy Chairman), Greg McCarthy (NZTR Nominee to the Board of the New Zealand Racing Board), John Stace and Ben Nettleton.
