When questioned, rider advised the gelding work hard in the early stages when being caught wide, which had been detrimental to the performance and when placed under pressure failed to respond. Post-race vet exam revealed ZABORACI to have suffered cardiac arrhythmia. Co-trainer Mr. R Wellwood advised Stewards, ZABORACI underwent a veterinary examination on Friday 12 January which revealed no obvious abnormalities. R Wellwood further advised it is the stables intention to continue on with the gelding’s current preparation and at ZABORACI next race day start will be ridden off the pace.
