  • Stipe Comment: When quest re tactics rider explained after racing in a rearward position he attempted to improve from the 700m. Said that near the 600m he was hit in the face by a large dirt clod which had forcibly affected his ability to urge his mount forward, placing him at a disadvantage. Said that he was held up for clear running for some distance near the 400m and after making the turn awkwardly he obtained clear running on straightening for the run home. Added that he attempted to improve to the outside of the weakening STRIPES where his progress was again momentarily impeded near the 200m due to STRIPES displaying an inclination to hang out under pressure. Rdr advised that the lack of vigour he displayed in the early stages of the home straight added with the fact he elected to improve to the outside of STRIPES when it was clear a run to the inside was available, was of concern. After taking into account all of the evidence, added with the margin between 8th place FRED ASTAIRE and the 7th Stewards took the matter no further other than to advise rdr that at all times he is to ride his races in a manner which does not leave him open to query
